Aeschylus is known as the “Father of Greek Tragedy”.  He gave us some of the most brilliant plays of the Ancient World.  According to legend, he was killed in a unique way.  He was sitting outside when he was around 70 years old.  He was possibly pondering his next play.  An eagle, looking for a rock to drop a tortoise on to crack its shell, mistook Aeschylus’ bald head for shiny rock.  Unfortunately, the eagle’s aim was unerring and the tortoise hit Aeschylus on the head and killed him.  We do not know if the tortoise was eaten by the eagle.
